About
In 2012, colleagues from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and the United States came together to build this Congolese-led non-profit organization in Moba Territory with the goals of contributing to peace, social progress and development in an area of the DRC still recovering from the aftermath of war. Through a highly diverse group of educators, humanitarians, youth leaders, and U.S. advocates, H.O.P.E. is working for social progress, durable peace, and development in communities throughout Katanga Province.
H.O.P.E. activities include educational radio broadcasts, participatory theater, workshops with local associations and institutions, as well as conflict mediation when requested. Through these activities, valuable and locally relevant information pertaining to health, human rights, and peace education is offered to a diversity of people throughout the region. The H.O.P.E. base is also home to the only library in Moba Territory and offers public access to a wide array of educational books and ebooks in French, English, and Kiswahili. Additionally, H.O.P.E. offers free courses in French and English, reading and writing, and basic computer training.
